Caesar Rodney warrant to seize supplies, 1780 July 15.

Consists of one warrant issued by Delaware President Caesar Rodney to Mr. William Millan, Receiver of Supplies for New Castle County, to seize the necessary food and supplies needed by the Army of the United States since no other means of procuring them is available. The document is signed by Rodney and dated Dover, 15 July 1780.

In response to the expansion of the Continental Army the number of staff was increased and reorganized in 1776. Changes included the creation of a new unit to supplement George Washington's personal staff. This special unit, the Commander in Chief's Guard, was formed on March 12, 1776 with Captain Caleb Gibbs (formerly adjutant of the 14th Continental Regiment and appointed Aid to Major General Greene) as commander.
